![]() I love this method because I don’t have to worry about the pasta boiling over and making the mess when the kids wander out of the kitchen while cooking. My kids love this method because they can make it completely on their own-no need for me to come help them carry the heavy pot of water from the stove to the sink to drain it. Pressure cook at high pressure for 3 minutes for whole wheat elbow pasta or 4 minutes for white elbow pasta. We initially developed this recipe with kids in mind. Combine the pasta, water and seasonings in the Instant Pot. STEP THREE: Once cooking time is done, manually release pressure (this means open the release valve). ![]() STEP TWO: On goes the lid, turn to lock, and set the IP to Manual, High Pressure for 4 minutes. A very small amount of water should remain in the pot drain if needed. STEP ONE: Into the Instant Pot or pressure cooker goes the pasta, water, butter, salt & pepper. Manually release the steam to prevent the noodles from overcooking. Secure the lid, close the vent valve, and cook on high pressure for 4 minutes. Do a quick pressure release when time is up, turn IP off. In an Instant Pot, combine the macaroni, 4 cups water, and salt. (3 minutes if you prefer noodles on the softer side) Lock lid on and close pressure valve. Add the macaroni, water, and ham to the insert pot. Stir the garlic and allow it to heat for a minute. Stir in the garlic and press Cancel to turn off the Saute mode. Using the Saute function, cook until the onion is softened, about 3-5 minutes. Put your Instant Pot or pressure cooker on manual, high pressure, for 2 minutes. Add butter and onion to the insert pot of the Instant Pot. ![]() Back then, we were surprised to see it become one of the most commented-on recipes in the cookbook: “Since boxed mac and cheese cooks on the stove in about the same amount of time, why make it in the Instant Pot?” Add your water, macaroni noodles, and salt. Add butter, cheese, hot sauce, and milk to the pasta. If the pasta needs to be drained, drain the pasta and place the pasta back into the pot.
